THE SIGHT

This is a book about containing many short stories written by Patricia C. McKissack. In the particular story call “The Sight” a boy named Esau is born with a special gift to see into the future. The gift is Called the “sight”, and can be known to be a curse to its owner when it’s abused. Throughout Esau’s childhood, the sight was a blessing to him and his family foreseeing many dangerous situations, but when Esau’s father tried to use his son’s gift as a means of gambling, it became a curse to Esau and the gift eventually faded away. When Esau grew to be an adult with a family of his own, he regained the sight in an epic vision that he believed would take the lives of his family. However, his precautious preparation caused his family to survive the situation, proving his sight to be a true blessing.
